Ric Allsopp (b. 1950) is an independent writer and editor and Emeritus Professor of Contemporary Performance at Falmouth University, UK. He co-founded the journal Performance Research (Routledge, Taylor & Francis) with Richard Gough and Claire Macdonald in 1996 and was Joint Editor until 2018. Between 1982 and 2024 he taught and held research appointments at Dartington College of Arts, the School for New Dance Development, Amsterdam, the Centre for Performance Research, Cardiff/Aberystwyth, Manchester Metropolitan University and Falmouth University, and was a visiting professor at Berlin University of the Arts, ArtEZ University of the Arts, Arnhem and the University of the Arts, Philadelphia. His essays, edited books and journal issues contribute to the field of contemporary performance and artistic research. He lives in rural South Devon, England.
